Two Poems by Bradley (Driftwood) Gravening

Vampire

You are a beautiful person, inside and out.

Hardened by a similar life, you won your freedom while l fell from grace; or had I always been this jaded? Happiness comes with a price – mine comes from a needle.

Flowing through my blood, sweet bliss lasting only but a breath before the sinking feeling takes over.

Money is the only solution – I purchase my madness.

None to be had leaves me feeling so empty.

Maybe moondust will fall from the sky?

Lord, why is it so hard at times?

Will there ever be relief from this curse bestowed me?

A second before death seeming that one true moment of clarity.

Three Pyramids

They follow me through the Manitou streets. From where they came, I cannot recall.

Can I really bring the Devil to life?

A still-frame from the beginning – a portrait.

What does he even look like? How could I ever know? Is the joke that he really is at the comedy club?

Who fills his audience? Witches and warlocks? Virgins? Can I escape the Seminole wind of destruction?

Was I really in-tune with the darker forces? Was I simply high?

Could I, should I play both sides of the fence?

I do believe in true love and always will.. power.

Darkness always having been so alluring. But I shall forever choose love over evil.

My happiness is in everlasting life with my father, God.
