:Control at What Expense?:
:Part 2: TommyLee Dean Late August, 2021
When these people end up drunk on their illusion of control, it turns into a breeding ground of
ignorance because they ignore and try to dismiss that which they cannot have full control over.
Prejudging through ignorance leads to an uninformed prejudism that could very well cause for
someone to say something along the lines of “the element found on PWSO.blog”. But what kind of
“element” are we? Wanting to open lines allowing talented prisoners to excel legitimately is not
some kind of security threat by any means.
PWSO.blog provides another choice for people who made mistakes in life to work on a positive outlet
leading to reform, which might even go as far as to provide a legitimate career for some. And if
anyone has problems gaining ground in the worlds of literature, art, crafts, whatever, what better
time to suffer failure than when sitting in an institution where one is provided for and can afford
to fail without triggering some sort of desperate reaction in response? Here in prison we have all
the idle time to succeed or step back and analize why we did not. We can then change tactics. I
have been failing and changing tactics for over ten years and only now am finally getting to a
place where I am beginning to see not only a little more success but making a little money, too.
Considering that every time I ended up in prison was because I was achieving my profits through
robberies , I would have to say that feeling so good from now gaining legitimate pay is a very
positive thing. Wouldn’t you be prone to say the same? I mean, really•.. it’s fricking
life-changing!! And this whole failing and enacting new tactics thing has went as far as to teach
me how to get ahead without the use of a gun for once. So what kind of element have I become?
Better? Worse? Eleanor Roosevelt once said that others can only make us feel as inferior as we
allow them to and I am not going to allow for CDOC to make me feel inferior with their
bureaucratic, closed minded ignorance!
I have been trying to get CDOC to work with PWSO since it emerged as an idea. I have turned in
proposals outlining some of the opportunities PWSO would like to see for prisoners. I informed CDOC
administration when PWSO registered with the Colorado Secretary of State. I invited CDOC workers to
join us on this very site. Yet, their prejudism and ignorance against anything they cannot have
full control over causes them to move that parameter back or to refuse to unlock that door that may
save a coworker’s life. Full control is their drug of choice, they mainline it like any junkie
mainlines any drug, but it is control at what expense?
