Work in Progress by Emanuel Theus-Roberts

Just a sample of Emanuel’s work about one of the most famous writers from prison:

Marquis de Sade  is arguably the most polarizing figure in literature and life in general. Born Donatian Alphonse Francois de Sade June 2, 1740 when France was still a kingdom. A self-proclaimed proponent of absolute freedom Marquis de Sade became infamous for his writing (mostly) which blended philosophical discourse with a peculiar eroticism—what’s now termed Sadism.

Sade wrote  many, if not in in the  best, of his works from prison. His literary contributions, and Sade himself have intrigued and influenced scholars, writers, pop culture, and postmodern morality in ways few writers of fiction ever have before or since. Marquis de Sade penned  many works among his most memorable and influential are Justine, the Misfortunes of Virtue,  Juliet or the Prosperity of  Vice, The 120 days of Sodom, Philosophy in the Bedroom. Sadie was instrumental to the then growing popularity of nihilism in today’s ever present hedonistic tendencies. As important as Sade is, in the question of philosophy and literature, Sadean ethics are only one side.
